Winnie the Pooh Baby Shower Invitations

One of the most popular styles of baby shower invitations these days is the use of vellum. Vellum is a thin, semi-opaque, semi-clear, milky colored paper.

How is vellum used? To make invitations for a Winnie the Pooh baby shower theme, first go to a scrapbook or craft store and buy some sheets of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit or other character paper (there are all types and styles of printed paper that fit a Winnie the Pooh theme). You can get at least 2 invitations from one 8½ by 11 inch sheet (depending on how big or small you make the invitations). A 4” by 6” invitations is a recommended size. Also, at the store, buy the same amount of sheets of vellum. Also buy some ribbon or metal brads. You can use either the ribbon or brads to fasten the vellum to the paper.

Now for the fun part! On the computer, type up the information you want on the invitations. You could write something like this:

Something is rumbly in Jenny's tumbly!

It's a BABY BOY!

Come celebrate a Winnie the Pooh Baby Shower
for Jennifer Clements!

25 August, 2005
2575 Sycamore Way
Given By Julie Cook
RSVP to Julie at 405-555-5545

Jennifer and her little boy are
registered at Babies-R-Us.

Or something like that.

Next, print your wording onto your vellum. You may have to adjust and play around with the printer settings to get it to print two invitations on one page. So before you start printing on your sheets of vellum, use blank white paper first until you get it just how you want it. Then, print off as many as you are going to need. Then, cut the vellum down to about 3” by 5” size with the wording centered in the middle.

Next, cut your Winnie the Pooh themed paper to 4” by 6” size. Then place the vellum on top of the Pooh themed paper and fasten it at the top with two brads, equally spaced in the center. Or punch two holes, equally spaced (about 1-2 inches apart) in the vellum and the paper; then loop come ribbon through both the paper and the vellum.

Finish it by tying the ribbon in a cute bow on top.

You are ready to send them off!

If you don’t want to use vellum, you could follow the instructions above, but instead of printing the wording onto vellum, just print the wording on a light-colored Pooh patterned paper. Cut to size and you are done!

OR, easier still, you could use one of the following free printable Winnie the Pooh baby shower party invitations:

Winnie the Pooh Baby Shower Decorations

Let's start out decorating with red and orange/yellow streamers, Pooh's favorite colors! Stream them all over your party room.

Next, buy some pooh colored confetti and sprinkle over the serving area, gift table, and game area.

Then you could get some Winnie the Pooh balloons , or cloudy summer day balloons or red/orange balloons to scatter around room.

You could buy or make some cut-outs of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Eeyore, Christopher Robin, Kanga, and/or Roo, and tape them up on your walls and your entry way to welcome guests to the party!

To add the perfect "baby" touch, suspend a clothesline somewhere in the room and hang up a Pooh baby onesie, a Pooh bib, some baby booties, a picture of Winnie the Pooh, a baby towel, and a few diapers. (These items could be your gift to the expectant mother).

Party stores may have themed decorations such as, Pooh plates, napkins, cups , and a tablecloth.

Buy a Winnie the Pooh or Tigger or Eeyore medium sized stuffed animal and put a cloth diaper (or disposable if it fits) and give it a binkie & bottle, a onesie, and other baby accessories. This is SO cute!

Winnie the Pooh Baby Shower Games

Choose 2 or 3 of these Winnie the Pooh baby shower games to play to break the ice and get the guests laughing and enjoying themselves:

Pin the Tail on Eeyore
When guests arrive, have them write their initials on a small, blank, circle label sticker (you can purchase these at office supply stores). Make sure they do not then remove the stickers from the backing - a person helping with the party will be given charge of them. Previous to the party, create a poster portraying Eeyore, with his behind clearly visible. Also, cut out a tail for Eeyore on cardstock, and place a push pin in the top. Eeyore is a friend of Winnie-the-Pooh who literally has his tail pinned onto him, and he occasionally loses it from time to time! The poster is then hung at eye-level on a wall, and after all the stickers have been filled out, place them generally in the area on Eeyore's behind where the tail would normally go. There should be a little spacing between the stickers, however. To make the opening-of-presents more fun, have each woman take a turn being blind-folded, spun-around, and given a try to place Eeyore’s tail in the correct spot. A gold star will mark where the tail should go, and if this spot is pinned by someone(s), they receive a present of their own during the gift-giving! If they don’t pin the star, they will pin one of the stickers with a guest’s name on it. The person whose name is on the sticker is the next to give their gift to the mother-to-be. If someone does not directly pin on someone’s name, or pins onto a sticker of someone who already gave a gift, the person’s name who is closest to the pin is the next one to give a gift. Cross out the names on the stickers of guests as they give their gift to the mother-to-be. Make sure you have a few gifts on hand in case your guests are really good at pinning the tail correctly on the donkey! Or, get your guests really dizzy before they pin the tail!

Mother's Pooh-isms
The characters in Winnie-the-Pooh are known for certain hobbies, likes/dislikes, etc. For example, Pooh-Bear is known for occasionally having the desire to lose some weight from all his honey-eating, Piglet is known for being afraid of things, Owl is known for his wisdom, Rabbit is known for his love of vegetables – particularly carrots, Eeyore is known for being grumpy, and Tigger is known for the mischief he gets himself into. Before the shower, interview the mother about what she looks forward to once her baby weight is gone, what things she will be most afraid of with her new child, about what wisdom she wants to impart to her child, about what baby food vegetable she thinks her child will like the most, about what will make her grumpy as a mom, and about what mischief she got into as a child. For the shower, type up the following questions that the guests are supposed to guess the answer to. Mix the mother-to-be’s answer in with a few other multiple-choice, false answers. Whoever guesses the most correct answers is given a prize:

1. Because of Winnie-the-Pooh’s intense love for honey, he occasionally expresses the desire to shed some pounds. What is ________ most looking forward to once she loses much of her baby-weight?

2. Piglet has a fear of many things – especially of what the future can bring. What does _______ fear most about the mothering of this child-to-come?

3. Owl is known for his wisdom – or at least the wisdom he is presumed to have. What “wisdom” does _______ most hope to impart to this child?

4. We all know that Rabbit is quite the vegetarian, and that carrots are his favorite food. What vegetable baby food does _______ guess that her child will like the most?

5. Many things – in fact, most things that happen during a day make Eeyore incredibly grumpy. What will make _______ the most grumpy in her mothering of this child?

6. Tigger seems to always be a “bounce” away from mischief. What is the worst mischief that _______ got herself into as a child?

Winnie the Pooh Piñata
Although you may think piñatas are just for kids, they are just as much fun at a baby shower (especially if it is a couples/coed baby shower - guys love it!)
